The Gong is a powerful instrument; its healing capability is truly amazing. Not always immediately apparent, the healing can be a progressive and subtle development. We are all individual and so the healing will so too, be individual.
Of course you will feel relaxed and in a harmonious state of mind, this is to be expected. You may also feel light-headed, and find yourself in a ‘dreamlike’ state of being for some time afterwards. Although you may find this pleasurable, it is important to stay ‘grounded’ in the ‘here and now’.
Healing treatments often promote altered states of awareness quite similar to those initiated by the intake of recreational drugs. If you find yourself experiencing such a ‘natural high’ and are comfortable, enjoy it and be thankful. However if you feel the condition doesn’t suit you, or that it may hinder with what you have to do through the coming day, then you should take time to ground yourself, and the healing energies.
Effective methods of grounding.
1) Eating and drinking are great ways to do this, go eat a substantial meal, and have a non alcoholic drink. This will initiate the process of gathering yourself together, re-aligning and bringing the many elements of you ‘back down to earth’.
2) Involve yourself in a manual task, work is an incredible ‘grounder’, as it promotes focus and helps prevent the mind, and your thoughts from wandering.
3) Sit yourself on the ground, or stand if you find it comfortable and visualise/imagine that healing energy is flowing from you, and down out of the soles of your feet into the ground. As you do this, affirm that this is excess energy is being given by you to the Earth as healing.
Many people who receive healing often experience ‘out of body’ journeys. They may find themselves travelling to strange and wondrous places such as foreign lands and even other worlds. Sometimes even finding themselves experiencing these vivid journeys as another person, quite unlike themselves!.
There are many spiritual bodies that the soul is composed of, believed to exist harmoniously in multiple dimensions.
Grounding is simply a process of gathering yourself together, finding composition and developing foundation.
Elevated levels of consciousness are common during and after periods of Meditation and Healing. As spoken of previously the experience can become comparable to that which is the result of the intake/ ingestion of Psychotropic drugs. Though not as intense, the resulting state of being is not always beneficial. A person needs to be fully functional ‘mentally’ if they are to navigate from the venue. As joyful as the ‘high’ may be, realistically the energy that we initiated the connection with needs to be grounded into the earth. Participants of the Gong Bath need to be able to walk, or drive away from the venue capable of doing so without risk of personal misfortune. Walking away with both feet firmly on the ground.
"The spirit firmly anchored into the physical self. Their heads are out of the clouds. Nobody is dancing with the Fairies and with the acknowledgement that the experience has come to an end".
If you do find yourself in an elevated state of awareness that is causing you concern. Then the following should assist you.
With intention firmly in mind, visualize yourself connecting with what surrounds you closely. This may be the earth beneath your feet, the walls of a building you are inside of.
It is important that you connect with what exists in the ‘here and now’, the physical plane. Not with your thoughts that exist in the higher mental ‘astral’ level of existence.
Visualise thick cords of light that project from yourself, and anchor them into what is available. Your conscious intention should be that of anchoring yourself into this and finding security in your reality. You should affirm that you will become grounded, and the energy of the experience will be grounded into whatever you have available.
I have in the past, anchored myself into other people, I believe this is permissible and was correct for the situation. At the time I found myself developing into higher levels of conscious awareness. The ‘high’ was of such intensity that I had to enable some form of grounding quickly. I performed the above technique, with the sole intention of simply staying grounded. There was no intention to channel the energy of the experience towards the individuals concerned. But to merely gather myself and take control of my actions.
Continue the visualisation technique, if you need to project further cords of light into what is available do so. This will serve to reinforce your efforts, and combined with affirmations you will ground yourself. This exercise is quick to initiate and is effective anywhere.
It is important, when you feel and know you are further grounded. You should visualise the cords of light retracting and releasing from whatever you chose to anchor into. Gather your energy together and you should be thankful and offer gratitude for the assistance given.
Eating and drinking, as I have previously mentioned is highly advisable. Most importantly your focus and energy is channeled towards the processing and digesting of what you have consumed. This is an effective mechanism for grounding; it aligns the physical with the spiritual bodies. Your mind is concerned with the physical body you occupy.
It is indeed my wish that all who participate in the Gong Bath Healing Meditation. That they enjoy the experience, and so depart with the feeling of ‘wellbeing’ and of becoming ‘healed’. It is of great importance, and I place emphasis on efforts to ensure that all are grounded sufficiently to enable comfortable passage home.
